The Copper Hen Cakery and Kitchen.

This restaurant is a Farm-to-Table place that tries to source locally as much as possible. But beyond that, it's fabulous! My wife and I went there on a noon-time date, not knowing what to expect as we were first-timers. The place was quite and mostly empty as we had gotten there around 11:45. I guess the lunch crowd doesn't normally start that early. The atmosphere inside is charming, in an old-world kind of way. You know those "edison" light bulbs that everyone loves so much nowadays, well, they have plenty to go around. Open rafters, tables that are made of planks of wood, exposed brick, it all lends to the charm.

No sooner than after placing our order, the place started to fill up. A few other couples, a ladies lunch group, pretty soon the restaurant was mostly full.  At one point while we were waiting for our lunch, a lady came and swiped all the flower vases off all the tables, including ours. She was busy putting fresh flowers in each of the vases and redistributing them.

THE CHEDDAR ALE BURGER {g} - Peterson grass-fed beef patty fried in brown butter, caramelized onion marmalade & housemade pale ale cheese “whiz” on a housemade brioche bun | 15

My order was the Cheddar Ale Burger. The bun on this burger is amazing. Home made, with lots of flavor. I suspect it might be the butter. But the burger is also fried in butter. This restaurant must go through a lot of butter. No doubt, thought, butter makes everything better. The main reason that I got this dish is the caramelized onions. I love caramelized onions. There wasn't enough though, and it left me wanting more. The surprising part of this meal was the house greens. Whatever dressing they put on the greens makes them shine. Oh, and the cheese wasn't bad either.

THE BEST SANDWICH IN MINNEAPOLIS {g} - seared ahi tuna, bacon, avocado, heirloom tomatoes, greens & spicy lime crema on a toasted baguette, served with farmer's potatoes | 18

My wife ordered the tuna sandwich. They claim that this the "Best Sandwich in Minneapolis" and that's no lie. Skip the potatoes, skip the dipping sauce, skip the lettuce, I'll have more tuna please!

My wife gave me a couple of pieces of tuna and wow!
