It was opened by a woman, Helen 'Hazel' Steve, who made pies at a local diner and had demands she open her own restaurant. Fifty-some years later, the restaurant is still in the family and still as popular. They also feature local artists on their walls, which is great for the art community, and they use locally-sourced products when possible. Their menu includes brisket hash, a meat waffle, a curried chicken sandwich, and a chicken pot pie.
