The Minnesota History Center is operated by the Minnesota Historical Society (MHS), and it is the place to go when you want to learn about Minnesota's rich and varied history. The museum within has won awards for their interactive exhibits.

There has also been a concerted effort by the MHS to shine a light on the history and culture of the local Native people, from before the area was settled, continuing throughout today. There is so much to learn about them, and this is just the start. There are pictures from life back then, and there are artefacts which teach us  more about Native culture, history, and traiditional practices.

The Minnesota History Center was built with an eye towards showing Minnesota in its 'bones'. It was constructed out of local resources including limestone/travertine from Winona, granite from Roseville, and various hardwoods from around the state.

The building is considered one of best bulidings in the state. You can learn much more about it at the first link provided above.
