The Walker Art Center was founded in 1940, and it has become one of the premier art institution that highlights multiple mediums of art in the country. They are known for supporting artists and celebrating invention/creativity in different art media.

It is recognized as a leading arts venue and features contemporary arts and design exhibits as well as film screenings, music performances, dance, and theater. The exhibits are varied, rich, and diverse.  If you have any interest in any medium of art, you will be able to find an exhibit that speaks to you.

In addition, it has different progressive programs, including Access Programs. These are: Verbal Description and Touch Tours, which are for blind people and people with low vision (these are free); Sensory Friendly Sunday; Contemporary Journeys (for people with early-to-mid-stage dementia and their caregivers); and Tours for Neurodiverse Visitors.

Another outstanding event they have  is Out There, which is their annual experimental theater series. They have been doing this for over the past three decades, and it's their way of offering innovative and provocative theater.

The Sculpture Garden opened in 1988 and showcases more than 40 works from the Walker Art Center. It is open 365 days a year and has welcomed millions of visitors. If you haven't had your picture taken with the iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry, are you even in Minnesota???
