Music unites people. In 1963, a community member of Blommington who was a famous jazz musician , Paul W. “Doc” Evans, declared a need for a Bloomington symphony, and thus, the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra was born. Mr. Evans served as the first musical director of the symphony.

Bloomington Symphony Orchestra is comprised of volunteer adult musicians who range from amateur to semi-professional to professional. The one thing that unites them is their love for music and the desire to share that love with others.
