Lake Harriet Bandshell (Park) is a popular destination for Minnesotans in the summer. Why? Because it has so much to offer on a sultry summer night. Of course, the main thing is the music, and it features Music in the Park all summer long! Many people go to enjoy music Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm and 5:30pm. The lake's current name is in honor of Harriet Lovejoy Leavenworth, the wife of the commandant of Fort Snelling, Colonel Henry Leavenworth. There has been some kind of pavillion/bandshell on this lake since 1888. The current bandshell, designed by Milo Thompson, was built in 1986 and quickly became a favorite among the people of Minneapolis.
Lake Harriet features 2.75 miles of pedestrian trails and 3 miles of bike trails as well as a beach, fishing pier, picnic area, playground, and canoe, kayak, bike, boat, and paddle board rentals. Come spend the day and evening here!
