The North Shore is one of the most scenic areas in Minnesota. Located on the western edge of Lake Superior, it starts in Duluth and runs all the way to Canada. Along the way, you'll find Two Harbors, Split Rock Light House, Gooseberry Falls, Silver Bay, Tofte, Lutsen, Grand Marais and much more.
Many a tourist stay in Lutsen Resort, one of the iconic resorts in the area. In Lutsen, activities include, skiing, an alpine slide, scenic gondola ride, and much more. Nearby Tofte has several mountain bike trails, which is a part of Gitchi-Gami Trail Association that runs an 89 mile trail system from Two Harbors to Grand Marais.
One of the popular scenic trails is the Oberg Mountain Loop. It's a 2.6 mile hiking loop that is a part of the Superior Hiking Trail. This trail has an elevation of 500 feet and it moderate in difficulty. The views from Oberg Mountain are spectacular in the fall, with Oberg Lake, and Lake Superior both visible. You can access this trail near Tofte.
